A UK-based food trading company is seeking a Managing Director to lead the structured establishment and development of its UK operations.
This is a senior executive mandate focused on strategic build-out, commercial development and governance oversight.
Position Overview
The Managing Director will be responsible for establishing and structuring the company’s UK presence, ensuring full regulatory compliance, building commercial relationships and driving revenue growth.
The role requires strategic leadership, commercial acumen and the ability to build a scalable business model from foundation stage.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Commercial Development
* Define and execute UK market entry strategy
* Lead negotiations with retailers, distributors and foodservice partners
* Develop long-term commercial partnerships
* Establish pricing and margin strategy
Corporate & Regulatory Structuring
* Ensure full compliance with UK food safety and trading regulations
* Oversee statutory director responsibilities
* Coordinate external legal, accounting and compliance providers
Operational Framework
* Select and oversee third-party warehousing and logistics partners
* Implement import and distribution structure
* Establish reporting and control systems
Financial Oversight
* Full P&L responsibility
* Budgeting and forecasting
* Financial performance reporting to shareholders
Organisational Development
* Gradual build-out of local team aligned with commercial growth
* Define hiring roadmap based on revenue milestones
Mandatory Requirements
UK resident with full right to work in the United Kingdom
Proven senior leadership experience within UK food or FMCG sector
Strong knowledge of UK retail landscape
Demonstrated experience building or scaling commercial operations
Experience with P&L ownership
Strong understanding of UK compliance and governance standards
