We have a new opportunity to be part of our Aerodynamics team in the role of Design Engineer – Aerodynamics Model Design.
As a Design Engineer focused on aerodynamic model design, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our wind tunnel testing capabilities. You’ll help shape the development of our model philosophy and contribute directly to aerodynamic performance through the design and delivery of high-quality components and systems. Owning the full lifecycle of aerodynamic model design projects, from initial concept through to final delivery.
Collaborating closely with aerodynamicists, designers, and engineers to develop efficient, high-performance wind tunnel (WT) test models.
Creating parametric and surface CAD models for use in CFD and WT testing.
Ensuring the design of aerodynamic models aligns with performance, legality, and design intent.
Supporting the evolution of model philosophy, focusing on quality, repeatability, and changeover efficiency.
Participating in WT tests, supporting model part preparation and addressing issues to uphold design integrity.
Driving model development strategies in line with aerodynamic and regulatory requirements.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Strong CAD capability, ideally with CATIA, and experience in mechanical and surface modelling.
Solid understanding of composite design, advanced materials, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of GD&T, finite element analysis (FEA), and metrology practices.
Experience in F1 aerodynamic development or a similar high-performance environment.
Familiarity with FIA technical regulations and wind tunnel testing methodologies.
Understanding of race car packaging constraints and their relationship to aerodynamic development.
This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
Combining our rich heritage with innovation, we bring fresh energy to the sport, driven by a commitment to challenge the status quo and dominate the track. As part of our high-performing, collaborative team, you'll enjoy a competitive package, including a discretionary bonus scheme, private health care, pension plan, life assurance, and benefits like TEDSgroup childcare, cycle-to-work, tech, and car schemes. Plus, you can look forward to an on-site gym with fitness, spin, and yoga classes, as well as a new restaurant offering indoor and outdoor dining.
