Eaton are currently recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team at Wimbourne. Our site in Wimborne - former Cobham Mission Systems, now part of the Eaton portfolio – is manufacturing air-to-air refueling systems and actuation (weapons carriage), primarily for defense markets.The site has a workforce of approximately 1,000 people. It is a state-of-the-art facility, using the most modern techniques in AI, Machine Learning, integrating testing, next generation systems. It is also a people enabling organization, striving on career growth and employees’ happiness.We are ITAR Regulated for this site and all candidates must be eligable for Security clearance.What you’ll do:Eaton Mission Systems Division are recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer to support our production and aftermarket activities within our Air to Air refuelling and Actuation value streams. This role entails creating/optimising our assembly and testing processes and by providing technical assistance to our manufacturing operatives on a daily basis, facilitates the on-time delivery of product to our customers at the highest quality standard. Working within our facility is a full-time role requiring on site attendance.Manufacturing Engineer Job Responsibilities:Be responsible for all Manufacturing Engineering tasking within the facility, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry regulations.Interpret manufacturing data eg drawings and test schedules to create manufacturing instructions within our ERP and enhanced digitalised manufacturing execution systemProvide technical advice and assistance on all assigned projects, engaging with subject matter experts and stakeholders from all functions as requiredAnalyse manufacturing problems and provide solutions/guidance to the shop floor teamGenerate and maintain production and development routings and bills of material within the ERP systemReview and action engineering change notifications including defining suitable manufacturing point of embodimentSupport the wider engineering community in resolution of design related issuesWork collaboratively with both the internal supply chain team and external suppliers to resolve queries, provide support, and contribute to the continuous optimisation of manufacturing processes.Identify requirements for tooling and implement solutions into the build sequenceDrive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, reducing costs and increasing repeatabilityAttend and contribute to daily tier meetings, material review boards and engineering change reviews.Lead by example and promote a proactive health and safety culture, ensuring a safe and compliant working environmentSupport Eaton’s zero-defect programme, undertaking the key principles of APQP, taking the lead in some areas including PFMEA and RCCA activitiesQualifications:HNC / HND in Engineering disciplineMinimum of 5 years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, ideally within the aerospace industry with a knowledge of EASA/CAA Part 21 or 145.Skills:Experience of using MRP/ERP systems and document management systems [essential]Good working knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing processes and techniques [essential]Experience of PPAP / APQP [desirable]Health and Safety Qualification i.e. IOSH / NEBOSH [desirable]Continuous Improvement Certification i.e. green belt [desirable]Attributes:Analytical approach to problem solvingAbility to work independently and as part of an operational teamStrong written and verbal communicationTakes initiative and is willing to challenge the status quoKeeps calm and collective in high pressure scenariosWhat we offer:A company culture committed to Inclusion & Diversity and Sustainability.Annual mentoring programme, Eaton University, and a robust reward and recognition framework.Ongoing learning and global career development opportunities, including internal mobility.Comprehensive induction support and a well‑structured onboarding experience.The successful applicant will be in contact with US ITAR controlled technology, goods and information.
