Description
Priory Hospital Newbury is looking to recruit a Catering Assistant to join the team. This role will be worked on alternate weekends, one week it will be 2 x 10-hour shifts during the week, the following week will be 2 x 10-hour shifts on the weekend. This is a part-time role of 20 hours.
Priory Hospital Newbury, located Berkshire, is a level 2 rehabilitation service which supports male adults with mental health needs, who are working towards a life back in the community. We also provide an acute service, for local male and female patients who are in crisis and require a short admission for support.
We are well-placed to accept patients who need higher levels of care and intensive therapeutic support, as well as those stepping down in acuity.
What you\'ll be doing
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you\'re assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
* Assists catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s Assured Safe Catering policies and procedures.
* Under direction, takes responsibility for parts of the catering operation.
* As part of the catering team, the role holder will be required to ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s Assured Safe Catering policies and procedures.
* Amends the services to suit the needs of the site.
* Reduce the amount of waste to gain a greater value for money.

What you\'ll bring to the role

The role holder will require basic numeracy and literacy skills, along with an understanding of basic food hygiene. While previous experience in a catering environment is not essential, as full training will be provided, the position does involve shared responsibility for maintaining accurate records and data in line with the company’s Assured Safe Catering policies and guidelines.
