Little Hearts Matter is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people affected by a single ventricle heart condition. Every year, hundreds of families receive a diagnosis that is life‑changing, complex and frightening. Our role is to ensure they are not alone — and that their voices are heard.
The role
As Chief Executive, you will provide the strategic leadership and operational oversight of the charity, working closely with an engaged Board of Trustees. You will lead a small, skilled staff team and a growing volunteer base, ensuring strong governance, financial sustainability and high‑quality services shaped by the lived experiences of families. This role combines leadership, income generation, advocacy and ambassadorial work, requiring someone comfortable setting strategy or representing the organisation externally.
Responsibilities
* Lead the organisation with clarity, empathy and purpose
* Shape and deliver the charity’s strategic direction with the Board
* Ensure strong governance, systems and financial health
* Oversee high‑quality services and measurable impact
* Lead and grow a diversified income generation strategy
* Play an active role in fundraising and corporate partnerships
* Act as a powerful ambassador and advocate for families
Qualifications
* Has senior leadership experience in a small to medium‑sized charity or values‑led organisation
* Brings strong financial and income generation expertise
* Has a track record of leading fundraising teams
* Communicates with confidence, warmth and credibility
* Has experience influencing, campaigning or representing externally
* Leads collaboratively and motivates others
* Is driven by purpose and social impact
Why Little Hearts Matter?
Founded by parents in 1994, Little Hearts Matter supports children, young people, adults and families living with single ventricle heart conditions — including those who experience the loss of a child. We provide trusted information, advocacy and community support, and work to ensure that people living with non‑correctable congenital heart disease are heard where decisions are made.
