The Mechanical Field Specialist will be responsible for providing on-site mechanical support, repair and maintenance of Power Transmission Equipment within customer facilities including commissioning, start-up, preventive maintenance, and trouble-shooting situations in accordance with engineering best practice and contractual work scope requirements. Partner with the best As a Mechanical Field Specialist - (Power Transmission), you will undertake world-wide onshore & offshore gear installation & inspection duties. Be capable of working under pressure from the customer particularly in breakdown situation. This role will have minimal supervision so you must ensure that you are always responsible and maintain company equipment. As a Mechanical Field Specialist - (Power Transmission), you will be responsible for: Assisting the development of the Gears Business by increasing our capacity to overhaul High and Low Speed Gearboxes. Overhauling of a wide range of gear related products, potentially without OEM technical information and passing judgement of the suitability of parts for further service. Providing general technical direction and assistance to the customer in the operation, maintenance, repair and installation of Power Transmission equipment. Providing Project and Field Service management with complete and prompt information regarding status of jobs, customer problems. Performing routine field repairs of Power Transmission products in the most practical, economical, and timely manner. Verifying that the installation of new Power Transmission products complies with engineering requirements to ensure warranty coverage. Providing technical assistance through on‐site guidance in the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Power Transmission products, including the use and proper interpretation of data and technical instructions. Assisting customer in scheduling maintenance and workload. Producing a full written report on activities. Reports must be submitted with the maximum amount of relevant information. Anticipating requirements beyond those that immediately affect the program and assist in implementing actions to satisfy those requirements. Maintaining knowledge of new developments and technologies of Allen Gears, Lufkin and other manufacturers’ equipment in order to provide the highest standard of service. Fuel your passion To be successful in this role you will require: Have a HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or any other related mechanical engineering courses. Have previous experience in a Field Service position or Technical role within a Mechanical Engineering rotating equipment environment. Have good mechanical knowledge of rotating equipment, highspeed equipment (pumps/gearboxes etc). Have the ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings, documents, specifications, and instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance, procedure manuals and ability to solve practical problems related to gear repair equipment. Have the ability and willingness to work away in the field as and when the business/customer requires. Be located within 1 hour of the Worcester office base. You must be a UK citizen holding a British passport due to types of customer contracts. Be proficient in delivering clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
