Overview
Healthcare Support Worker-Community (West) – NHS. We are recruiting for a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker to join the West Community Nursing Team. This role offers opportunities to grow knowledge and skills through a comprehensive learning package and a 4-week HCSW induction, with potential for further education and career progression. We provide a supportive multidisciplinary environment and a variety of shift patterns over a 24-hour period.
Responsibilities
* Undertake phlebotomy, record vital signs, and undertake simple wound care as a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker.
* Work with our community-based team to provide nursing care for patients in their own homes, including wound care, catheter and bowel care, palliative and end-of-life care, and administration of medication (training provided).
* Visit patients independently once competent, with support available from the registered nurse.
* Contribute to high standards of patient care within a multi-disciplinary team and participate in ongoing learning to fulfil the competency framework within the specified time frame.
Qualifications
Essential
* Understanding of how to work as part of a team
* Basic IT skills
* Good command of written and verbal English
* Car owner/driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes
Education & Training
* Basic literacy/numeracy skills preferably gained through secondary education
* Willingness to undertake training
Desirable
* NVQ / QCF level 2
* Previous experience in a health care setting and phlebotomy experience
