Our client is a specialist Building Services Consultancy.
They are looking to recruit a Graduate Technical Author to work remotely.
The role involves traveling to their offices in Kent once a week for training, with travel to sites paid for.
Responsibilities:
1. Researching and procuring information
2. Understanding business systems and applications for documentation
3. Gathering and analyzing user information needs
4. Preparing technical manuals and project hand-over documentation by procuring design and contract information
Communication and Collaboration:
1. Attending team planning/briefing meetings
2. Clarifying technical issues with developers and managers
3. Liaising with subject matter experts including commissioning managers, contractors, suppliers, and project consultants
4. Using IT applications such as collaboration tools, Microsoft Office, project management software, databases, and in-house documentation systems
Content Writing and Editing:
1. Writing, editing, and presenting clear, simple English information following the company's style
2. Preparing illustrations and coordinating their commissioning
3. Indexing and cataloging materials
4. Copy-editing colleagues’ work
Project Management:
1. Planning and managing the authoring of projects
2. Creating schedules and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Professional Development:
1. Staying updated with industry trends and attending training
2. Keeping abreast of legislation and environmental directives
3. Marketing and promoting services and skills to potential clients
