Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Geomatics Analyst to join a small team that processes survey data for the National Elevation Data Programme. The role involves using specialist remote‑sensing software and GIS to process and quality‑control LIDAR data collected by our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data and support the delivery of the National Elevation Data Programme.
* Use specialist software and GIS to process and quality‑control LIDAR and derived Digital Elevation Models.
* Apply remote‑sensing techniques and analytical skills to produce evidence for the Environment Agency and external partners.
* Participate in incident‑response duties as required by the Environment Agency.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree in Geography, GIS, Environment, or another scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Practical GIS skills using ESRI ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap, with experience working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LIDAR.
* Experience in processing and carrying out quality‑control procedures on LIDAR data and LIDAR‑derived DEMs.
* Understanding of remote‑sensing techniques, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and good attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational skills, high motivation, professional attitude, and effective communication.
* Ability to work unsupervised and meet challenging deadlines.

* Experience with remote‑sensing techniques and GIS analytics.
Location & Travel
The post is full‑time; the contract is 17 months, up to March 2027. You will be expected to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required and to come into an Environment Agency office as needed. Interviews will take place in person at our Bath office.
