Job Description
Job Summary
Directly reporting to the Front of House Co-ordinator and as an integral member of STEP, you will need to work well within a small team and be able to motivate yourself to exceed your and our client’s expectations. The job can be physical and fast paced, so it is key to be confident with multi-tasking, organisation and prioritising:
* Be proactively responsible for planning, prepping, cooking and serving food and drink items to customers, ensuring consistently high standards of professional presentation and customer care are maintained at all times.
* With a focus on exceptional customer service, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the on-site take away.
* Provision of a first-class take away service for all customers.
* Provision of a quality catering service for STEP.
It is anticipated that the take-away provision, and those that work there may change and flex over time. It is therefore important that the person in the role of Catering Assistant is flexible, proactive and engaged in the business vision.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Prepare and cook take-away meals and food.
* Prepare, cook and display catering for STEP venue hire clients.
* Skilled cooking activities connected with a full range of soups and meals.
* Prepare a wide range of meals/snacks, breakfast rolls, filled rolls, paninis, soup and meals from fresh etc.
* Menu creation, portion and cost control, allergen control and awareness and the provision of special dietary foods where appropriate.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and non-statutory food safety Legislation processes and procedures.
* Observe hygiene, health and safety in the workplace.
* Adhere to the environmental health registration.
* Be aware of and carry out the regulations laid down in the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Undertake any appropriate staff development/staff training as required.
* Record keeping and ordering of supplies within budget.
* Organising the ordering of provisions/stock control.
* Ensure monthly kitchen stock takes are completed, all the necessary paperwork is compiled, and stock is ordered as required in the most cost-effective manner to ensure profit margins are maximised.
* Take online orders and operate EPOS system.
* Ensure all areas within the unit are kept clean and tidy at all times (including floors, windows, work surfaces, appliances, equipment etc).
* Ensure kitchen equipment is operated correctly and any maintenance issues are reported.
* Be First Aid and Fire Marshal trained (training given).
* Sound knowledge of STEP F&D tenants, promoting their products and services to users of the take-away.
* Cashing up at the end of each day and filling in appropriate paperwork.
* Carry out all paperwork as required and keep it up to date as required.
* Opening and securing the Unit at the start / end of each day.
* To carry out tasks as may be required.
