We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice in Shrewsbury for an Accounts and Tax Assistant to join their team. In this role, you will support the firm by preparing accounts, handling tax returns, performing bookkeeping tasks, and maintaining effective client communication, helping drive the ongoing growth and success of our practice.
Duties include:
1. Prepare accounts for sole traders and complete self-assessment tax returns
2. Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
3. Support the preparation of accounts for limited companies
4. Carry out bookkeeping duties for key clients
5. Act as a point of contact with HMRC on behalf of clients
6. Ensure timely and professional communication with clients, addressing enquiries efficiently

12. Minimum 2 years’ experience in tax/accounting
Desirable Skills:
13. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Dext, or TaxCalc
14. AAT qualification
15. GCSE or equivalent (required)
