About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students who may have special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, or behavioural challenges. You’ll provide both 1:1 and small group support, helping students stay engaged in lessons and build confidence in a nurturing environment.
You'll collaborate with teachers and the school’s SENCO to adapt learning strategies, monitor progress, and encourage independence, all while promoting a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Your Key Responsibilities:
•Support students with SEND in class, small groups, or 1:1 settings
•Assist with lesson participation, focus, and emotional regulation
•Follow personalised support plans created by the SENCO
•Track and report on student progress and engagement
•Encourage self-esteem and positive behaviour through consistent support
•Use ICT and learning aids effectively to enhance access to the curriculum
•Supervise students during breaks, exams, and on school outings
•Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and safeguarding standards at all times
What We’re Looking For:
•A caring, reliable, and resilient individual
•Experience supporting young people with SEND or behavioural needs (education, youth work, or care settings welcome)
•Strong communication and teamwork skills
•GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
•Confidence working with teenagers in a school environment
•Willingness to complete training in SEND, safeguarding, and behaviour support
•A positive attitude and a calm, consistent approach
