We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and collaborative tax team, where you will play a key role in supporting all areas of direct taxation with a particular focus on the Group’s tax reporting requirements and UK direct tax compliance. This varied role will involve analysis of Group taxation, forecasting and budgeting of key tax metrics, and providing critical insights into results. You will also support the delivery of consolidated tax reporting, both internally and externally, including reviewing provision calculations and ensuring accurate reconciliation of the Group’s Effective Tax Rate.

This varied role will see you involved in the analysis of Group taxation, forecasting and budgeting of key tax metrics, providing critical insights into results.
You will also support the delivery of consolidated tax reporting, both internally and externally, including reviewing provision calculations and ensuring accurate reconciliation of the Group’s Effective Tax Rate.
Responsibilities
* Analysis in all areas of Group taxation, primarily direct tax.
* Forecasting and budgeting of key Group tax reporting metrics (such as Effective Tax Rate / tax payments), and critical analysis of results thereon.
* Support with Group consolidated tax reporting, including both internally and externally facing obligations, such as review of Banner (B&Q Screwfix Castorama etc) tax provision calculations, and reconciliation of Group Effective Tax Rate.
* UK tax compliance and return preparation for selected UK and IE entities.
* UK compliance support, such as group relief allocations, controlled foreign companies analysis, and Country-by-Country Reporting.
* Calculation of quarterly UK corporation tax payments.
* Support ad hoc business driven, or regulatory/legislatively driven projects.
Qualifications
* Qualified accountant or ICAW, ACA, CTA
* Accountancy firm or industry trained, with tax background and focus
* Experience as part of a UK direct tax team of ~7, within a Group tax function of ~20 in the UK across all taxes
* Ability to work cross-functionally and cross Banner, engaging with tax personnel around the Group
* Interaction with external stakeholders such as auditors, and external advisors
* Good understanding of tax accounting and reporting requirements
* Sound UK tax technical knowledge; some international tax and/or transfer pricing experience beneficial with a willingness to learn
