Overview
Sphere Solutions are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor, ideally from a civils or groundworks background, to join a highly successful subcontractor based in Mid Cornwall, with a strong presence across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset.
Working with a number of leading housing developers and contractors, this business benefits from long-standing client relationships and a consistently busy portfolio of regional projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Produce valuation matrices and daywork schedules
2. Review contract documentation and drawings to ensure accuracy and alignment across all parties
3. Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment in line with client calculation schedules
4. Verify and approve subcontractor payments
5. Maintain full visibility and control of all project costs and expenditure
6. Manage cost changes arising from revised drawings and design updates
7. Liaise with clients to agree dayworks prior to instruction
8. Ensure all works comply with company procedures and industry standards, supporting ISO, SMAS, CHAS, and Achilles accreditations
Requirements & Experience
9. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
10. Strong background in groundworks or civil engineering (preferred)
11. Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar (desirable)
12. Excellent commercial awareness and contractual understanding
13. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
