Technical Director – Data Centres Manchester Vertical Recruitment is working with a leading international engineering consultancy to appoint a Technical Director to join their growing Manchester team. This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within one of the most established and successful data centre design teams in the market. Based in Manchester, you will play a key role in shaping project delivery, developing people, and strengthening client relationships across a portfolio of complex, mission critical projects. As Technical Director, you will provide technical and strategic leadership across major data centre programmes, supporting clients from concept through to delivery while helping to drive the continued growth of the business. You will work alongside an experienced leadership team that values collaboration, technical excellence, and professional development, giving you the platform to make a genuine impact on projects, people, and business performance. Key Responsibilities Data Centre Leadership Provide technical leadership across large scale data centre projects Guide design teams through complex engineering challenges Support clients with strategic technical advice and sector expertise Strengthen project delivery and technical capability across the business Team Development Mentor and develop engineers at all levels Support the growth of future leaders within the business Foster a positive, collaborative culture focused on learning and progression Help build and strengthen high performing engineering teams Technical Excellence Champion best practice and high quality design delivery Maintain technical standards across mechanical and/or electrical disciplines Review project outputs and provide technical assurance Drive innovation and continuous improvement across project teams Client Relationships Build trusted, long term relationships with key clients Understand client objectives and provide commercially aware solutions Support business development activities and sector growth initiatives Act as a senior representative of the business within the industry What We're Looking For Experience delivering data centre projects within a consultancy environment Strong technical background in either Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Engineering Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex projects Ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery from both technical and business perspectives Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous What's on Offer Opportunity to influence the direction of a highly respected engineering business Exposure to some of the most technically demanding data centre projects in the industry Clear opportunities for progression and continued career development Investment in professional training, accredited courses and ongoing learning Collaborative and supportive leadership team Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
