As part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board's Journey to Excellence, the Acute Medical Unit within the Emergency Quadrant here at YGC is undergoing some major quality improvement and service developments.

This means we have some exciting opportunities for individuals who are looking for a career in health care within the rapid-paced world of emergency care.

We are supporting staff through their NVQs and onto the nurse training course via this route. We have a dedicated practice development nurse and our very own sim suite to aid learning opportunities. They are on hand to work with and support new staff within the ward setting.

Main duties of the job

Assist the registered nurse/practitioner to deliver a high standard of holistic patient care, ensuring that the patients' dignity and equality is maintained at all times.

Ensure the principles set out in the fundamentals of care are incorporated into daily practice to ensure high quality service for patients and clients.

Assist the patients to maintain their own hygiene and personal appearance.

To perform duties within the plan of care delegated by a qualified practitioner, only for which the post holder has the relevant training and assessment.

Prepare ward/clinical area for receiving patients by ensuring area is generally clean and tidy - assist in maintaining the standards in the clinical area and report any untidiness/clutter to the appropriate person.

Assist in the admission of new patients into the department by preparing bed/trolley area, welcoming patient, directing to bed/other area, showing patient around the ward.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience required to fulfil the requirements of the post
* Experience of dealing with the public
* Previous clinical experience


Knowledge

* Basic numeracy and literacy skills
* Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent experience
* Completion of all Wales Induction Framework

* Additional demonstrable qualities that may be beneficial to the role, e.g. care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment
