The Role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team at BGI. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the pace of multi-entity finance work, has solid experience in accounting, and understands the complexities that come with supporting businesses in the construction space.
Key Duties
* Assist in the preparation and processing of sales and purchase invoices across multiple entities.
* Perform bank reconciliations and manage day-to-day cashbook entries.
* Support monthly management accounts preparation, including accruals and prepayments.
* Reconcile supplier statements and liaise with suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
* Assist with VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
* Maintain accurate financial records and assist with year-end audits.
* Provide administrative support to the finance team and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
* Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients as required
What we’re looking for:
* AAT Level 3 or higher (or equivalent qualification) – required.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a finance/accounts role, preferably within the construction industry.
* Sound knowledge of CIS regulations and processing.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
