Senior Land Surveyor – Marine & Tunneling
Location: Avonmouth, Bristol
Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C! The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor to support the delivery of surveying requirements across one of the most complex infrastructure projects in the UK. In this role, you'll assist the Survey Manager in leading survey operations, mentoring team members, and ensuring a standardised approach to data capture and deliverables. You will play a critical part in ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality in all survey outputs that underpin the construction of Sizewell C.
CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
Key Responsibilities
* Support delivery of all survey requirements across the project, maintaining focus on Zero Harm and sustainability
* Supervise and mentor survey team members, providing technical guidance and training
* Plan, manage and deliver engineering control, setting out, topographic surveys and QA/QC checks
* Ensure accuracy and compliance of survey operations, maintaining secure records of survey data
* Produce deliverables to strict deadlines in line with the site programme
* Prepare safety briefings, Work Package Plans, Risk Assessments and Task Briefing Sheets for survey teams
* Manage the production of as-built drawings, ensuring compliance with ITP procedures and client requirements
* Collaborate with site teams and stakeholders to ensure survey outputs meet project needs
* Maintain survey equipment inventory, advise on procurement, and ensure secure storage of equipment and data
* Drive adoption of up-to-date survey methods, digital tools, and reality capture technologies
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Essential
* Extensive knowledge of survey software and applications (e.g. Autodesk Civil 3D)
* Strong IT proficiency and ability to process survey data efficiently
* Experience in settlement monitoring, geodetic requirements, GNSS networks and latest survey technologies
* Proven ability to manage site survey teams and deliver accurate results in large infrastructure environments
* Full UK driving licence
* Valid CSCS card
Desirable
* Relevant degree, diploma, or industry-recognised qualification
* SMSTS qualification
* Membership of a professional body (e.g. CInstCES, RICS)
* Experience in machine control systems and digital survey modelling
