Job Summary
As an Agency Care Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents in the care home. You will work flexibly, often at short notice, to cover shifts and ensure the continuity of care. Your role is to promote dignity, independence, safety, and wellbeing in line with individual care plans and the values of the home.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and supporting mobility needs.
* Assist residents with eating, drinking, and meeting their nutritional and hydration needs.
* Support residents with social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, engaging them in meaningful activities.
* Observe, monitor, and report any changes in residents' health, behaviour, or needs to senior staff.
* Administer or assist with medication only if appropriately trained and authorised.
* Follow residents' individualised care plans and risk assessments.
* Maintain accurate and timely care records in line with the home's policies and regulatory requirements.
* Promote residents' rights, dignity, privacy, and independence at all times.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control measures, including PPE use.
* Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, communicating clearly with colleagues and families.
* Comply with safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.
* Attend mandatory training sessions and keep knowledge and skills up to date.
* Uphold the values, policies, and procedures of the care home and the agency.
Experience
* Previous experience working in a care home or similar environment (desirable but not always required).
* Knowledge of personal care, health, and safety in a care setting.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work flexibly, adapt to new environments, and follow instructions.
* Compassionate, patient, and committed to delivering high-quality care.
* A valid enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) – or willingness to obtain one.
* Up-to-date mandatory training (e.g., Moving and Handling, Infection Control, First Aid, Safeguarding).
Desirable Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).
* Experience with residents living with dementia, physical disabilities, or complex needs.
Key Information
* Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
* Uniform must be worn at all times.
* Flexibility and reliability are essential for agency work.

Pay: £12.21-£12.50 per hour
