Main duties of the job
* We’re looking for an experienced Healthcare Support Worker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who is keen to learn and take on new clinical skills to work alongside our nursing teams.
* The Brodey centre is a satellite unit which delivers anti-cancer treatments to patients. We are a small unit but very busy and are looking for an energetic, friendly, and compassionate person to join our team.
* Ideally the successful candidate will have training in cannulation, phlebotomy, and the use of PICC lines. If you don’t have training but this role interests you, please discuss with the Ward Manager.
* Previous Healthcare Support Worker experience and successful completion of the Care Certificate (or equivalent healthcare qualification) is essential, along with an ability to demonstrate compassion and a commitment to learning new skills.
* Please note, this is a part time role and will require working on most Fridays and Saturdays to cover the unit.
* Prepare patients, families/carers and the environment for clinical activities, support and reassure patients, and prepare equipment as necessary.
* Monitor patients closely after clinical activities to ensure safety, comfort and wellbeing.
* Assist patients with personal care needs, maintain privacy and dignity, and empower patients and families.
* Assess and monitor skin integrity and report any changes or concerns.
* Demonstrate clinical competence to undertake minor dressings and treatments as per the plan of care and in consultation with the registered practitioner.
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers, arranging access to information and support as needed.
* Prepare healthcare records for patient appointments/procedures to support ward/clinic operations.
