Overview
Weapon System Simulation and Experimentation Engineer - Undergraduate Placement 2026. MBDA is offering a 1-year placement starting September 2026, based in Bristol with Dynamic (Hybrid) Working: 3-5 days on-site due to workload classification. Salary: £23,495. Closing date for this role is midnight on 5 January 2026 (subject to application volumes). Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. After offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo BPSS checks managed by MBDA.
What you will do (Responsibilities)
* Design leading-edge software applications and simulations to support synthetic battlefield experiments, weapon system integration, and product concept and design.
* Create demonstrators and system representations for MBDA products across Land, Sea and Air domains.
* Work as part of agile teams developing, integrating and deploying software and simulation components, alongside other areas such as Integration & Systems Validation, Human Factors, Future Systems, Customer Support Services and Sales & Business Development.
* Gain experience with software development methodologies (Agile and Waterfall), training in new programming languages and tools, and deploying software onto hardware environments.
* Develop and test code within professional software development teams and understand MBDA’s product delivery processes including test and certification.
* Operate across disciplines including software development (C++, C#, Java), software environments (Visual Studio, Eclipse), system engineering, networking, hardware integration and domain-specific algorithms (e.g., flight dynamics and rotational geometry).
