Join Smart DCC as an Economic Regulation Manager
At Smart DCC, we’re building the secure infrastructure that underpins the UK’s digital energy future. As we prepare for a significant regulatory shift, we’re looking for an experienced and strategic Economic Regulation Manager to play a central role in shaping, leading, and embedding our new ex ante price control framework.
This is a pivotal opportunity to join a high-impact team during a transformative period. You'll be a subject matter expert on price control, directly engaging with Ofgem and customers, while guiding internal stakeholders through regulatory change with clarity and confidence.
What will you be doing?
· Lead key aspects of DCC’s ex ante business planning and regulatory submissions.
· Be a core liaison with Ofgem and industry stakeholders, managing complex regulatory discussions and ensuring our positions are evidence-based and robust.
· Act as a thought leader on economic regulation, embedding high-quality advice and awareness across DCC.
· Support DCC’s organisational transition from ex post to ex ante price control frameworks, ensuring processes and behaviours are aligned with future regulatory expectations.
· Work closely with the Head of Price Control and the Director of Economic Regulation on team priorities, from board papers to risk briefings and performance analysis.
· Influence the long-term design of DCC’s regulatory regime and lead strategic initiatives.
What are we looking for?
· A degree in economics or another analytical discipline (e.g. mathematics, engineering); a Master’s degree is desirable.
· Strong experience in economic regulation, price controls or similar, ideally gained within a regulator, government body, consultancy, or regulated business.
· Excellent analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify the complex.
· Proven experience in leading large projects within cross-functional teams.
· Confident stakeholder manager, capable of influencing at senior levels (up to and including ExCo).
· Organised, proactive, and resilient—comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
· A team player who role-models Smart DCC’s values: making a difference, acting with integrity, and being accountable.

Step 1

Step 2
Chat with a recruiter
Once you pass the initial screening stage, one of our recruiters will be in touch to chat through the role and your experience. If all goes well, your application will be passed on to the hiring manager, who'll put together a shortlist for interview.
Step 3
Come for an interview
For most roles there'll be a two-stage interview process, which will include questions about your CV, competency and technical skills. For more senior positions there could be an additional interview stage. You may also be asked to give a presentation or complete a technical test, but we'll let you know in advance so you have plenty of time to prepare.
Step 4
Receive an offer
Once the interview process has been completed the successful candidate will receive an offer. Throughout the interview process the recruiter and hiring manager are happy to answer any questions you have.
