Band 8a Systemic Psychotherapist - Spring Tide Eating Disorder Day Service

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Systemic Psychotherapist to join our Eating Disorder Day Service based at Aldrington House in Hove for 22.5 hours a week.

Spring Tide provides an intensive treatment programme for up to 10 young people aged 10-18 with a diagnosed eating disorder and their families. The program supports recovery through evidenced based interventions and is based on the Intensive Treatment Programme from the Maudsley incorporating intensive family work.

You will work as a member of the clinical team, providing a high quality, specialist systemic psychotherapy service to clients, their families or carers. In addition, you will be required to support systemic thinking and practice within the team.

You will participate in systemic clinical governance and offer clinical supervision to assistant, trainee staff and other disciplines within the team. You will develop the family work within the team and lead on service changes/ development.

The program is 6-12 weeks where the YP attend daily, there is an education provision on site daily and once a week remotely. Spring Tide works closely with our community eating disorder service and community mental health services for young people and adolescents.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist systemic psychotherapy service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathways.

To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the service operational policy.

To use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.

To clinically supervise Psychological Professionals including trainee practitioner psychologists and junior psychologists, psychological therapists, psychotherapists or counsellors and other staff as appropriate.

To professionally supervise and, when appropriate, manage psychological professionals.

To complete assessments of those referred to the service and outcome this in a timely manner in line with code of Conduct

To provide consultation, mentorship, supervision and advice about psychological issues to other members of the team/service and other professionals working with service users, across a range of agencies/ settings as appropriate.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team.

Job responsibilities

REQUIREMENTS

Recognised accredited post graduate level training in a psychological therapy relevant to Children and Young People.

Professionally registered to work with Children and Young People.

A high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to complex difficulties appropriate for Children and Young People.

Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience of supervising staff.

Wide knowledge of local and national policies.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* A recognised post graduate qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (or equivalent).
* Accreditation in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).


Knowledge and experience

* Substantial post-qualification/accreditation experience of specialist psychological therapy
* A high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to young people with an eating disorder
* Experience of offering teaching, training and supervision within a demanding organisational context
* Experience of working within an multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of continuing professional development


Skills

* Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with clinically sensitive information to young people, families and carers
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment formulation and management
* Ability to plan and manage a complex work load with competing demands.
* Skills in clinical supervision of others
* IT skills - the use of a patient information system, word, excel, powerpoint


Abilities

* Ability to maintain sustained concentration over considerable time and to be able to manage a high number of competing work demands.
* Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff
* Demonstrate support for the values and beliefs of the Care Group and those of the Trust
