There is an opportunity for 2 full time Consultants to join the Epsom and St Helier team in Gastroenterology. Following a review of the service demand we can offer a 10 PA contract to 2 candidates. The post-holders will provide inpatient and outpatient general gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy services. This role is to work within the St. Helier site for Epsom and St. Helier NHS trust.
Main duties of the job
The proposed job plan for this post is to undertake 2 outpatient clinics weekly as well as 2 endoscopy sessions and one Virtual clinic. This will be discussed in detail with the post holder on appointment. Job plans will be reviewed, following an appraisal meeting.

Values and Behaviours
Essential criteria
1. Minimum 6 months NHS experience
2. Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC
Desirable criteria
3. Always taking opportunities to improve, encouraging excellence
4. MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence or relevant research
Clinical, Management & Administrative Experience
Essential criteria
5. Professional registration
6. Entry on to the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT
7. Appropriate higher medical qualification i.e. MRCP
Desirable criteria
8. Familiarity within issues of service organisation and development
9. Able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the on call rota for General Medicine
10. Supervision of postgraduate trainees
Teaching & Research Experience
Essential criteria
11. Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
12. Ability to contribute to change management
13. Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems
Desirable criteria
14. Experience of supervising junior doctors
15. Ability to supervise postgraduate research
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
16. Ability to work in partnership to deliver a patient centered service
Desirable criteria
17. Ability to communicate with patients and relatives
18. Willingness to work with consultant colleagues and management to maintain and develop a comprehensive service
