Role: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Transition Coordinator

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary between £29,870 and £39,696 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We’re looking for a passionate SEND Transition Co-ordinator to join our Additional Learning Support team. You’ll play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with EHCPs, by leading assessments, planning tailored transition activities, and working closely with schools, local authorities, and curriculum teams to ensure every student has the best possible start at college.

As a SEND Transition Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


* Overall Responsibilities - Assess and plan high-quality support for students with SEND and EHCP.
* Assessment Duties - Undertake assessments for EHCP and SEND students; support transitions; liaise with curriculum areas, schools, and Local Authorities.
* Support & Documentation - Ensure timely completion of paperwork; identify support levels; complete professional reports; deliver CPD to colleagues.
* Professional Relationships - Develop effective relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff; participate in marketing activities; contribute to meetings.
* Statutory Duties - Promote safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety; participate in training and development.

About You

* Qualifications - A Levels or equivalent; GCSEs in English and Maths; graduate or vocational training in relevant subjects.
* Experience - Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice; experience with SEND and EHCP; leading meetings; working in further education; using Microsoft Office; understanding safeguarding, equality, and diversity.
* Skills - Effective one-to-one work; professional report writing; strong communication; maintaining professional boundaries; organisational skills; IT and administrative skills; working with diverse groups.
* Personal Qualities - Ability to innovate; work under pressure; provide high-quality learning; contribute positively to the team; promote the College's reputation; flexible approach; willingness to travel.
* Commitment - Promoting safeguarding; forming appropriate relationships; continuous professional development; awareness of health and safety requirements.
