We are looking for a dedicated Personal assistant/Specialist support worker to come and join our team to work with our 5 year year old daughter in our family home.She has complex medical needs.
Having suffered a severe brain injury at a very young age, she needs assistance with all activities of daily living.
She is a full time wheelchair user, non-verbal, has complex epilepsy, is gastrostomy fed, has cerebral palsy, Arginine Vasopressin Deficiency, dystonia and is registered as severely sight impaired but she can see lights and shadows.
Our daughter is unsettled through the morning due to dystonic movements and she likes to be rocked in her chair through this. She really enjoys her sensory lights and loves having Moana songs played or sung to her.
Full training will be available for the right candidate.
Contract of employment will be for a minimum of 6hr per week with more hours available currently 22hrs shared between the other carer.
Responsibilities included
* Delivering care in line with care plan
* Administering medication via Gastrostomy tube.
* Gastrostomy feeding via her pump.
* Postural support and positioning.
* Recording sezures and other medical Sats
* Physio
* All Personal care and playing with.
What We're Looking For:
* The ideal candidate needs to be
* Easy going, upbeat and enthusiastic and enjoy being with children.
* Previous experience in complex care or working with children with additional needs.
* Compassionate, reliable, and able to work independently.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to an ever changing medical prognosis. Have a desire to develop clinical nursing skills, knowledge and understanding care for our amazing daughter.
* Have high standards of personal hygiene.
* Be able to log seizures and medical records.
* Be able to respond to situations without panicking.
* Right to work in the UK.
Expected hours: No less than 6 per week more hours will be available. Currently we have 22hrs per week needing covering between 2 carers.
