Description The Service & Team: Together For Families - Disabled Children's Team – Children’s Direct Payments Team The post-holder will have responsibility for a caseload of disabled children and young people who are being supported by direct payments and personal budgets following an assessment of need. The postholder will understand the needs of disabled children and their families, and be able to advise families on placing of adverts for Personal Assistants; advice on employment law and employment contracts; liaise with the child’s allocated worker, pre-and post-reviews / home visits; provide data from their caseloads to inform direct payments quality assurance and performance management (QAPM) process. The post-holder should also be able to work independently and manage their own workload, whilst also working as part of the wider DCTS team, and more broadly across other Children & Families Teams. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: 37 hours Monday to Friday What you’ll need to succeed: Knowledge of the needs of disabled children, young people & their families. Knowledge of the legal and good practice frameworks for the delivery of high quality standard direct payment / personal budget services for children and families. Experience of organising and managing one’s own workload. Ability to deliver a service within budget. Knowledge of associated services, such as managed account providers. An understanding of the importance of employment law. Experience of quality assurance & performance management against standards, including audit. Confidence and competence in financial management. Skills in solution-focused work, dispute resolution and complaints management. Good standard of education. Knowledge of direct payments / personal budgets and the needs of disabled children, young people and their families.
