Senior Technical Programme Manager — EPOS Transformation Location: Reading / Hybrid Contract : Initial 6 Months Day Rate: Negotiable (Inside IR35) We have exciting opportunity for an immediately available Senior Technical Programme Manager to join us on an initial 6-month contract with hybrid working where you must be willing to travel to our Reading office 1-2 days per week with some occasional ad-hoc travel to Dublin. Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Programme Manager to lead the technical delivery of a technical workstream for an EPOS transformation across our global retail business. This is a pivotal technical leadership role responsible for managing all aspects of a technical workstream they will be accountable for, including budget ownership, supplier and contract management, technical governance, and leadership of multiple technical workstreams. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical experience in retail EPOS transformations at a global scale, and strong programme governance expertise. This is not a business programme management or change management role. We need someone with the battle scars from delivering a multi-year retail EPOS transformation programme from a technical aspect. The Senior Technical Programme Manager needs to have a very structured and discipline approach to programme delivery. Key Responsibilities: Lead the technical delivery of a EPOS transformation programme workstream, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and to-spec delivery Own and manage the technical budget, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting Oversee and manage external technology suppliers, vendors, and system integrators; ensure adherence to contractual commitments Provide leadership and direction to technical project managers within their workstream such as infrastructure, integrations, data migration, testing and in-store device rollout Embed strong programme governance utilising the existing delivery framework, including planning, reporting, requirements capture, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management, and change control across their workstream. Collaborate closely with business programme lead to align technical delivery of their workstream with business goals Provide regular programme updates to senior leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans Champion delivery excellence using PRINCE2 or similar structured delivery methodologies Support the development and negotiation of technology contracts and statements of work (SOWs) Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and data privacy requirements Foster a collaborative and high-performing technical team culture Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience as a Senior Technical Programme Manager delivering large-scale, complex technology transformations in the retail sector Hands-on EPOS transformation experience at a global or multi-country level is essential Strong track record of technical budget management (multi-million £ budgets) Demonstrated expertise in supplier management, including contract negotiation and performance management Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing distributed technical teams Deep understanding of programme governance, planning, risk management, and reporting Strong proficiency in PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent project/programme delivery frameworks Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels, including C-suite Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing strategy and detail Advanced skills in programme governance Desirable Qualifications: PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, PMP, or equivalent certification Experience with modern EPOS platforms, payment solutions, and omnichannel integrations Previous experience in a high-volume retail environment Knowledge of modern EPOS platforms, payment solutions, or omnichannel retail eg Flooid / GK Exposure to delivering Cloud Based secure systems across Azure and Google.
