This is a phenomenal opportunity for an enthusiastic, visionary professional to step into a full-time Drama Teacher position starting in September 2026. The successful educator will lead a vibrant, spiral curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The role demands an educator who can effortlessly balance the theoretical aspects of the theatre with high-energy, practical execution.

About the School

Situated in Leeds, this premier 11-18 mixed secondary school and sixth form is recognised for its deeply committed, successful, and caring academic community. Rooted in a holistic ethos that encourages every individual to discover their true potential, the academy prides itself on an environment where staff work cohesively as a highly supportive team.

Key Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
* Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
* Curriculum Experience: Demonstrable experience teaching the UK National Curriculum across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is highly advantageous).
* Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

Key Skills Required

* Differentiated Instruction: Skill in tailoring lessons to challenge both academic GCSE pupils and practical BTEC Vocational Performing Arts students.
* Behaviour Management: Excellent classroom presence that commands attention while fostering an inclusive, safe, and collaborative space.
* Formative Assessment: Sharp analytical skill in providing constructive, reflective feedback on performance and written coursework.
* Extracurricular Leadership: Capability to organise, promote, and run thriving lunchtime and after-school drama clubs.
* Technical Theatre Familiarity: Basic understanding of stage lighting, sound design, costuming, and set management.
* Exemplary Communication: Strong vocal presence and the ability to articulate complex thematic concepts clearly to varied age groups.

Core Responsibilities

* Lesson Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver highly engaging, rigorous Drama lessons across all assigned key stages.
* Curriculum Implementation: Follow and enrich the department's spiral curriculum, ensuring students progressively build complexity in their work.
* Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 and 5 cohorts through the intricacies of devising drama, understanding texts, and practical assessments.
* Production Management: Oversee and coordinate the school's annual theatrical calendar, including casting, rehearsals, and live show nights.
* Student Tracking: Monitor, record, and report on the academic and practical progress of students, using data to inform interventions.
* Extracurricular Delivery: Lead a minimum of one weekly drama or musical theater club to widen pupil experiences beyond the standard classroom.
* Industry Engagement: Organise educational trips to live theatre productions (such as the National Theatre or local West Yorkshire venues).
* Parental Liaison: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and development areas.
* Professional Development: Actively participate in faculty meetings, internal CPD sessions, and school-wide training initiatives.
* Pastoral Support: Fulfil the standard duties of a Form Tutor, providing daily guidance, registration, and support to an assigned student group.

What We Offer:

* A supportive, collaborative working environment.
* Opportunities for career progression and ongoing professional development.
* The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of students.
