We are looking for a Plant and Vehicle Fitter (Full Time or Part Time) to join our yard team, maintaining and servicing our fleet of vans, plant machinery and tools. You will be required to carry out maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs to a wide range of construction, plant and LGV equipment.
You will work in conjunction with our office Plant team to keep our fleet up and running, helping to keep our multiple construction sites cost effective and productive.
Occasionally you will need to visit our locally based construction sites to carry out essential repairs, but for the majority of the day you will be working in our yard adjacent to the head office.
Rate of pay negotiable depending on experience.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
* Inspecting plant or equipment, diagnosing defects or malfunctions and determining required repairs. Carrying out effective repairs based on your assessment.
* Undertaking planned maintenance.
* Testing plant or equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance.
* Carrying out pre-hire and 12 monthly through examinations on plant.
* Scoping suppliers to achieve value for money on parts.
* Maintaining part stock levels ensuring we have equipment to cater for emergency breakdowns.
* Advising when plant is no longer fit for purpose or safe.
We're ideally looking for someone who has :
* Qualifications as a plant mechanic/fitter (or similar experience).
* Confidence in the diagnosis of electrical and hydraulic systems.
* Good time management, organisation skills and ability to work to deadlines.
* Able to work on their own initiative.
* Experience in welding would be an advantage.
* Full UK driving licence.
