Join Waukesha Bearings, part of Dover Precision Components, as a Skilled CNC Operator. You will work in a fully integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing facility, using CNC machining centres for milling and grinding operations to produce custom designs from various metals including steel, copper, brass, aluminium, and bronze.
The facility features a broad range of multi-axis machine tools, lathes, mills, and related equipment. The workload includes high-mix, customized fluid-film bearings, seals, and isolators for turbo and industrial machinery, supplying customers across Europe and beyond.
Annual Salary: For a rotating shift pattern of 2 weeks early (6am) and 2 weeks backshift (2pm), including an 18% shift premium, total earnings are £44,919.62, plus productivity bonuses, pension, and life insurance.
What You Will Bring:
* Time-served apprenticeship in a machining discipline or SVQ/NVQ level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC machine tools in a lean manufacturing environment
* Established milling experience with multi-axis machine tools, preferably Correa and/or Doosan or similar
* Experience with machine control systems such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain, or Haas
* Ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .0025mm
* Experience with precision inspection equipment including micrometers, callipers, height gauges, and bore gauges
* Ideally, experience in power generation, oil & gas, aerospace, or similar sectors
What You Will Do:
* Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements
* Download programs from a DNC storage system
* Interpret work instructions and select appropriate tooling
* Calculate feeds and speeds for various metals
* Edit or write complete programs
* Understand tooling and machinery capabilities
* Perform quality inspections and understand quality systems
* Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce setup times and improve productivity
* Inspect final components visually and dimensionally
* Perform boxing, cleaning, oiling, wrapping, and shipping preparations
* Use precision measuring instruments for quality verification
* Identify components after assembly or manufacture
