Overview
Manton Heights ABI Unit, believe mealtimes should be enjoyable, nutritious, and something our residents look forward to. We're currently seeking a passionate and reliable Assistant Chef to support the Head Chef in preparing fresh, high-quality meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs in a warm and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for residents, ensuring presentation and taste meet high standards.
* Work closely with the Head Chef to plan menus that meet residents' dietary requirements, preferences, and medical needs (e.g., soft diets, allergies, diabetic-friendly options).
* Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, complying with food safety regulations at all times.
* Ensure food is prepared and stored correctly, following HACCP procedures.
* Support the smooth running of mealtimes, including food service when required.
* Assist in stock control, rotation, and ordering under the Head Chef's guidance.
Qualifications
* Experience in a similar kitchen or catering assistant role (care setting preferred but not essential).
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum).
* Passion for cooking and a genuine interest in working with older people.
* Ability to work in a team and take direction well.
* Good communication skills and a friendly, patient manner.
