We have an exciting opportunity in our transport planning group for a Graduate Transport Planner to join our experienced team and engage in all aspects of traffic and transportation planning including transport assessments for new developments, urban regeneration, active travel, inclusive mobility, public transport and sustainable transport feasibility schemes.
Responsibilities
* Assisting in the preparation of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans
* Developing active travel, inclusive mobility and sustainable transport solutions
* Analysis of data and developing transport related solutions, including junction designs
* Commissioning traffic / pedestrian / cyclist surveys
* Site and Access Appraisals
Liaising with clients, architects, planners and Highway Authorities. We take pride in delivering projects effectively for clients. This often requires colleagues to be together—in offices or on site—to ensure the best outcomes. However, when possible, we also advocate for flexibility around how, when, and where you work. There is no 'one approach fits all' - each team manages their own way of working, we trust our employees and focus on outputs not inputs. Meeting up with colleagues and clients face to face in office environments or on site is important for collaboration, face-to-face meetings, appraisals and development.
Qualifications
* A minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant technical discipline (for example Transport Planning, Civil/Highway Engineering, Town Planning, Geography)
* MS Office skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong numeracy, analytical and report writing skills with an attention to detail
* Previous experience such as a placement or internship would be beneficial
You will soon pick up skills in:
* professional Consultancy
* the UK Planning System and Highway Law
* technical transportation related assessments to inform planning decisions
* project management
* promoting active travel and inclusive mobility in design proposals
* planning and transport policy and highway design standards and guidance
* assessing development impacts and promoting sustainable transport related solutions
* the principles of strategic transport modelling
* design, including AutoCAD and AutoTrack
