Overview and Responsibilities
We’re currently looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our school. The successful candidate will support the Class Teacher with all elements of the day-to-day running of the class and teach whole classes, groups, and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher across a range of classes.
Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Eccles School in Quidenham, Norwich provides day placements for students aged 4 to 19 years, primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some students may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties that create barriers to learning.
With small classes, a maximum of 8 students and a minimum of 3 staff per class, the focus is on individual needs. There is a full clinical team onsite to support at all times, along with an experienced and stable Senior Leadership Team.

Main Purpose of the Role:
1. Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
2. Lead in the absence of any Class Teachers across the school.
3. Support the day-to-day running of classes and take the lead in the absence of a class teacher.
4. Select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate learning activities.
5. Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
6. Assess, record, and report on development, progress, and attainment.
7. Participate in planning and evaluating learning activities.
8. Be a role model for new staff and supervise less experienced TAs.
9. Engage in continuous professional development and attend statutory training.
10. Contribute to the community life of the school by participating in community and multicultural events.
11. Respond to changing needs of the school and undertake duties to ensure smooth operation.
