Role: Paralegal - Interventions
Office base: Wigan, WN3 5BA - some agile work available
Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon – Fri
About the Team
We are looking for approximately 3 full‑time Paralegals to join our expanding Interventions Team. The team holds national contracts to deliver Intervention Services for the three major legal regulators in England and Wales: the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) and the Bar Standards Board (BSB). As a Paralegal, you will support and assist with all stages of the intervention process across a wide range of legal areas.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend the premises of intervened firms
* Evaluate and categorise practice papers, accounting records and client files
* Take possession of client data and secure sensitive information
* Identify urgent matters and deal with immediate enquiries
* Assist managers and supervisors in sorting, selecting and marking files
* Attend Day One interventions across the UK, sometimes on short notice
* Review client files for evidence of misconduct or costs that may be due
* Respond to queries from clients, new solicitors, suppliers and third parties
* Record all interactions and actions in detail on our case‑management systems
* Monitor live files and flag urgent issues
* Confirm client identity and authority for file transfer requests
* Repatriate files to clients or their chosen solicitors
* Identify clients or businesses who may be entitled to outstanding funds
* Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
* Record accurate time
* Assist with general accounts work and financial queries
* Prepare relevant data for regulator meetings
* Work flexibly across office and home settings, depending on departmental needs
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Experience dealing with customers/clients
* Comfortable handling high volumes of phone calls
* Experience working in a busy environment
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good IT skills including Excel
* Adaptability, flexibility and strong organisational skills
* Professional telephone manner
* Excellent client‑care skills
* Discretion and confidentiality
* Accuracy and attention to detail, even with frequent interruptions
* Team‑focused and able to work collaboratively
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working at paralegal level in a law firm
* Degree‑level education, ideally with a legal focus
* Knowledge of SRA intervention processes
* Understanding of solicitors’ accounts rules
* Familiarity with client care and complaints procedures
* Basic understanding of wills and deeds
* Valid UK driving licence
