An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated specialist practitioner in infection prevention and control to join our Infection Prevention Team. The role supports delivery of the infection prevention and control service across the Trust, providing expertise in prevention, management and control of infection and supporting team and trust objectives by developing and leading projects, initiatives and workstreams. This post is advertised as full time but part time options may be considered.
Responsibilities
* Act as the lead specialist responsible for advice on operational aspects of infection prevention within a large number of wards and departments.
* Lead specialist for identified infection prevention workstreams and improvement priorities.
* Work as part of the Infection Prevention Team in the provision of the Infection Prevention and Control Service within UHS.
* Facilitate and oversee the service on a day‑to‑day basis, providing leadership and support to band 6 infection prevention practitioners as part of a rota with two other specialist practitioners.
* Participate in the weekend Infection Prevention and Control On‑Call rota, providing specialist telephone advice and attending hospital sites during weekends and bank holidays.
Experience & Skills
* Registered practitioner (NMC/HCPC) with post‑registration experience, most recently at band 6.
* Recognised specialist post‑registration qualification/pathway of study in infection prevention & control.
* Recent experience working in the specialty of Infection Prevention & Control.
* Evidence of advising and updating clinicians and other patient care staff at an advanced level.
* Demonstrated experience of change management and quality improvement in practice.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
* Registered practitioner (NMC/HCPC) with post‑registration experience, most recently at band 6.
* Degree‑level qualification or equivalent.
* Recognised specialist post‑registration qualification/pathway of study in Infection Prevention & Control.
* A recognised teaching certificate.
* Master’s degree or equivalent level of relevant experience.
* Evidence of recent advanced‑level advisory work in infection prevention & control.
* Recent evidence of change management/quality improvement practice.
* Evidence of post‑registration professional development.
Desirable criteria
* Membership of a professional body, e.g. Infection Prevention Society.
