 
        
        Head of Faculty Research and Innovation Support
The University of Bristol is seeking to appointthree experienced senior leaders to join our Division of Research, Enterprise, and Innovation (DREI) asHeads of Faculty Research and Innovation Services.
These are key professional leadership roles responsible for managing the delivery of research and innovation services and support operations within the faculties, to enable the delivery of Faculty and University strategic priorities.
The role holders will play a critical role in defining, shaping and leading a significant transformation in the way in which research and innovation is supported across the University. As part of a University-wide Professional Services Transformation Programme (PSTP), they will develop seamless, consistent and effective research and innovation services across the faculties. They will shape and lead the delivery of research and innovation support within each faculty in line with PSTP design principles, University and faculty strategy.
This is an ideal opportunity for senior leaders with experience in leading transformational change at scale andin delivering strategic programmes, and who are familiar with working in a matrix management structure ideally from a research management-focusedsector.
Key to success in this role will be the ability to drive change and to foster strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, particularly the Director of Faculty Operations, the Faculty Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), the other Heads of Faculty Research and Innovation Services, the Director of the Research Office and the Director of Innovation, to help shape how research and innovation are supported across the institution.
What will you be doing?
Line managed by the Executive Director of Research, Enterprise and Innovation, and with an informal reporting line to the relevant Director of Faculty Operations, you will:
 * Define, shape and lead a significant transformation in the way in which research and innovation is supported across the University, in line with the University-wide Professional Services Transformation Programme (PSTP).
 * Lead on and take overall management responsibility for the delivery of research and innovation activities against Faculty strategic priorities, to ensure that the Faculty’s research and innovation agenda is delivered in alignment with the University’s strategic ambition.
 * Lead day to day operations of professional services Research & Innovation staff within the Faculty, setting service standards and ensuring that the team is adaptable to changing needs and working to defined service standards.
 * Lead and support relevant strategic planning processes, pre- and post-award activities, support for REF submission development and research translation, working with key academic and Professional Services stakeholders.
You should apply if
You have:
 * Proven track record in senior leadership within a higher education or similar complex environment, with experience of effective leadership and management of large teams ideally with a research management focus.
 * Demonstrated delivery of significant change management and large-scale projects.
 * The ability to inspire confidence with the drive and desire to support customer needs internally and externally.
 * Resilience and diplomacy, with the ability to work in close partnership with colleagues to provide a seamless research and innovation service across divisions and faculties and in instilling this approach in others.
 * Demonstrable evidence of defining and delivering innovative solutions.
 * A depth of understanding of University/Faculty opportunities and challenges.
 * Authoritative understanding of the major issues and opportunities within the research and innovation landscape.
