Teach Now is seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with complex needs at a warm and inclusive primary school in Havering, East London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team in an Additional Resource Provision (ARP) setting, working closely with children who have ASD, ADHD, and Down Syndrome.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils with complex needs.
• Use visual aids, PECS, and Makaton to support communication and learning.
• Foster independence, confidence, and positive behaviour through a nurturing approach.
• Work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff (11 children and 5 adults in the ARP).
• Help create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment that celebrates inclusion.
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND (essential).
• Knowledge and practical experience with PECS, Makaton, and visual support strategies.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach with excellent communication skills.
• A team player who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
