Reports to: Senior Care Assistant / Care Home Manager
Job Purpose To provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to residents within the care home, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. The Care Assistant will assist with daily living activities, administer medication accurately using eMAR, and apply PMVA/MAPA techniques when required to maintain a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities Personal Care & Daily Living Support
Assist residents with washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a dignified manner.
Support with mobility and the safe use of hoists, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
Provide assistance with meals and drinks, ensuring dietary needs are met.
Medication Administration
Administer prescribed medication safely and accurately in line with care home policies.
Use and update the eMAR (Electronic Medication Administration Records) system correctly.
Maintain accurate records and promptly report any medication concerns to senior staff.
Health, Safety & Behaviour Support
Monitor and report any changes in residents physical or mental health.
Apply PMVA (Prevention & Management of Violence and Aggression) or MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) techniques when required, ensuring safety for residents and staff.
Adhere strictly to safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety protocols.
Emotional & Social Care
Provide companionship and emotional reassurance to residents.
Encourage and support residents in engaging with activities, hobbies, and social events.
Assist residents in maintaining positive relationships with family and friends.
Record Keeping & Communication
Accurately document all care provided in line with regulatory requirements.
Contribute to residents care plans and ensure they are followed consistently.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and relatives.

Reliable, flexible, and committed to high-quality care.
Qualifications & Experience Proven experience as a Care Assistant in a care home or healthcare setting.
Experience in medication administration (essential).
Proficient in using eMAR systems (essential).
PMVA or MAPA certification (essential).
NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care.
UK Driving License and access to own vehicle (preferred).
Training in safeguarding, manual handling, infection control, and first aid desirable.
