Futures are working with an established electronics business in West Yorkshire in their search for a Principal Electronics Engineer. This role will play a key part in shaping the technical direction of both new product development and existing product enhancement, within a business supplying complex solutions into major corporate customers.
As Principal Electronics Engineer, you will balance hands-on electronic design with technical leadership, supporting and guiding a small but developing engineering team. The role is predominantly hardware-focused, but you will retain involvement in embedded software and firmware development, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical breadth alongside responsibility.
Principal Electronics Engineer – Role & Responsibilities – Electronics / Hardware / PCB / Embedded / RF
Take technical ownership of multiple electronics projects, including new designs and legacy product updates
Deliver hardware solutions to agreed timescales and commercial constraints
Design, develop and test electronic circuits, schematics and PCB layouts
Maintain involvement in embedded firmware, including hands-on coding where required
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support product delivery
Principal Electronics Engineer – Skills & Experience – Electronics / Hardware / PCB / Embedded / RF
Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Strong experience in PCB schematic capture, layout and hardware design
Working knowledge of embedded processors and firmware development
Background within an SME environment supplying into larger customers
RF electronics experience would be highly advantageous
Proven experience providing technical leadership or mentoring within an engineering team
