Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Stud Groom to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of horticulture and maintenance tasks. This role involves caring for horses, maintaining the stud facilities, and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order. The Stud Groom will play a vital role in the overall health and well-being of the animals while also contributing to the upkeep of the grounds.
Responsibilities
* Provide daily care for horses, including feeding, grooming, and exercising as required.
* Maintain cleanliness of stables and surrounding areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
* Perform regular inspections of equipment and facilities, conducting necessary repairs using hand tools and power tools.
* Assist with irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of pastures and gardens.
* Carry out basic maintenance tasks around the property, including landscaping and horticultural duties.
* Lift heavy items as needed, ensuring safe handling practices are followed.
* Keep accurate records regarding animal health, feeding schedules, and maintenance activities.
* Collaborate with veterinarians and other staff to monitor the health of the animals.
Experience
* Previous experience in animal care or working with horses is desirable.
* Familiarity with horticulture practices is advantageous.
* Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair is preferred.
* Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
* Basic math skills for record keeping and inventory management are required.
