As the Development Project Manager, you'll be making sure the Product Development team works within process, to update existing products and develop new products across both general and vocational qualification portfolios. This role is pivotal in making we follow process and bring together expertise and resource from across OCR to deliver new and updated products.
You will be managing a team of Development Project Officers and will work closely with Product Designers, other members of the management team as well as other teams across OCR.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About the role
As our next Development Project Manager, you will be managing a team of Development Project Officers and will work closely with Product Designers, other members of the management team as well as other teams across OCR.
In this role, you will:
* Manage and support a team of Development Project Officers (DPOs) who will be working on updates or developments for General Qualification (GQ) and Vocational Qualification (VQ) products.
* Implement and maintain Product Development processes, which cover initial product scoping through to product build and final business readiness. The processes need to reliably deliver products, work with internal system/process requirements and comply with regulatory requirements. The processes must be clear and easy to follow by DPOs and Product Designers, and all other OCR teams as necessary.
* Project manage a portfolio of product developments or updates, from inception to business readiness. This includes monitoring development progress, managing budgets and risks, and managing resources and budget.
* Project manage more complex developments, redevelopments, or withdrawal of products, working with Heads of Departments and managers as necessary.
* Provide key management information and budget updates to the Deputy Director, Product, and the GQ and VQ Heads of Product Development.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers (e.g. government regulators, Department for Education, OCR governance groups, assessors).
* Input into work that sees new evidenced based approaches and ways of working implemented, enabling the team to develop new qualifications at speed that meet regulatory requirements and are commercially appealing.
About you
You have previous experience in portfolio and project management with the ability to be comfortable working at different organisational levels and with both internal and external stakeholders. You are extremely organised with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. In addition, you:
* can work to tight deadlines and are comfortable making sure that others work to deadlines set too.
* are comfortable taking responsibility for delivery.
* enjoy problem solving and can think laterally.
* have excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and are an effective influencer who is successful in building productive working relationships.
* can work with strategies/targets/wider business systems and can understand their impact on process.
* are resourceful and resilient.
* are customer and evidence focussed.
* have a relevant professional qualification (Prince2, APM, PMI or similar) - highly desirable.
