We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our distributed team across Europe of hardworking engineers that are passionate about connecting new and emerging creators with users via recommendation algorithms. As an integral part of the squad, you will collaborate with engineers, research scientists and data scientists in prototyping and productizing state-of-the-art ML that serves at scale for hundreds of millions of users.
What You'll Do
o Design, develop, and deliver robust and scalable backend systems and APIs.
o Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and designers to identify and solve challenging problems and build new product features.
o Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code, adhering to coding best practices.
o Participate in the improvement of our software development standards and practices.
o Stay up-to-date with emerging backend technologies and best practices.
o Be a member of the Spotify-wide backend developer community affecting and driving our architecture across the company.
Who You Are
o You have experience writing distributed, high-volume Java services and know how to deploy and keep them running in production.
o You have a good understanding of data structures and algorithms, and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
o You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and can communicate your ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
o You love working in an environment where you constantly experiment and iterate quickly.
o You believe data is the most powerful tool for informed decision-making.
o You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high quality code.
Where You'll Be
o This role is based in London.
o We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
