As a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner (Volunteer Coordinator), you'll lead the day-to-day activities of a volunteer team delivering support and co-facilitating group programs for women who have experienced domestic abuse. Your responsibilities will include supervision, training, volunteer recruitment, and ensuring the ongoing growth and sustainability of the service.
Job Responsibilities
* Work with the Service Manager to design and develop activities that meet customer needs and ensure a professional, coordinated response with relevant advice and information.
* Lead recruitment, training, induction, and management of volunteers, including overseeing the delivery and administration of volunteer programs.
* Encourage customer involvement in planning, delivering, and evaluating group programs; co-deliver when necessary.
* Share expertise to support the professional development of staff and volunteers; recognize volunteer achievements and address capability issues promptly.
* Ensure staff and volunteers attend team meetings to maintain good communication and share experiences and concerns.
* Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, demonstrating understanding of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.
* Manage referrals, ensuring appropriate signposting, risk assessment, and effective risk management strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
* Good educational background, e.g., GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* Experience in recruiting, training, managing, or mentoring staff or volunteers.
* Experience delivering training or group work.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management.
* Understanding of domestic abuse effects on women, children, and young people.
* Ability to maintain clear, concise, and factual records.
* Ability to work under pressure and use initiative.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to engage diverse audiences and facilitate volunteer training.
* Team player capable of supporting service development and collaborating with other professionals and agencies.
* Flexible working hours, including some outside regular business hours.
* Full UK driving license and own vehicle.
* DBS check every three years.
