Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and highly motivated Physiologist to join our GI Physiology service at the Chelsea Site.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high quality clinical care to patients in line with Trust values and professional regulations.
* Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, supporting team members and adhering to Trust values.
* Deliver high standards of care autonomously and as part of a team.
* Communicate in line with Trust values to patients, carers and staff at all times.
* Continue to develop, practice and expand your own general knowledge and skill set.
* Contribute to the growth and development of the GI Physiology service, supporting Gastroenterology doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Provide high standard clinical reports to referring clinicians and discuss outcomes at multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Assist in developing and initiating new service areas, carrying out sessions independently.
* Supervise/assist in gastroenterological procedures, GI physiology investigations, breath tests and capsule endoscopy.
* Provide timely reports and communicate outcomes with GPs and other health professionals.
* Run twice monthly benign upper GI meetings and weekly GI physiology meetings, contributing to discussion and treatment planning.
* Support colleagues to meet the 18‑week pathway.
* Work in accordance with the professional standards and guidelines of the Association of Gastrointestinal Physiologists (AGIP).
* Work may include weekend shifts and duties at multiple sites.
Qualifications and Experience
* BSc in an appropriate science‑related degree.
* Training through the Scientist Training Path (STP).
* Training in GI physiology including hydrogen/methane breath tests, anorectal physiology, capsule endoscopy, oesophageal manometry and impedance pH monitoring.
* Good communication skills and proven ability to work autonomously and within a team.
* Familiarity with AGIP standards and professional regulations.
