Our Automotive manufacturing client based in Leeds are seeking a Customs Warehouse Controller to join their Warehouse team.
They need someone with shipping and / or Customs experience. Training will be given but this is a critical role and so they need someone with some knowledge and understanding within ideally customs but, if not shipping.
Duties
Provide clear instructions to customs brokers for SCDP clearances
Maintain import/export logs
Ensure all receipts are processed into DMS inline with guidelines set out by HMRC
Ensure all removals processed into DMS and accurate discharges for each customs regime inline with guidelines set out by HMRC
Maintain record keeping for SCDP clearances and associated import and export transactions
Escalation point for customs broker when issues arise within the duty management system (including SCDP clearances, receipt queries, CDS entry rejections and any other abnormalities)
Liaise and collaborate with functions within the business to ensure correct management relating to any item that falls within the customs process (including maintaining master data)
Promote awareness of customs processes and relevant authorisations throughout the business
Monitor new rules and regulations within customs space related to operations carried out within the business
Obtain proof of export where required
Complete monthly checks and KPIs
Ensure accurate SCDP month end close within HMRC timescale
Ensure accurate period end close for inward processing
Provide complete and accurate Bill of Discharge (BoD) submissions to HMRC for each period
Provide relevant reporting data as per organisation requirements
Take relevant remedial actions as an output of checks and audits
Conduct regular compliance audits on import/export transactions and transactions in the DMS including master data, general customs processes and operating instructions
Conduct regular audits relating to other elements of customs authorisations outside of transactional process that are included within scope
Maintain all relevant operating procedures for customs processes
Take relevant remedial actions as an output of checks and audits
Maintain SCDP, Customs Warehouse and IP authorisations as necessary (including periodic renewals, reviews of authorisation limits and such like)
Communicate accordingly with HMRC as and when required
