About the Role
The post will involve the maintenance of the town centre environment in a clean and tidy condition, identifying and reporting matters requiring attention and dealing with enquiries/complaints from the public.
Key Responsibilities
5. Undertake routine litter picking duties and respond as necessary to areas of specific need.
6. Undertake cleaning and maintenance of public conveniences.
7. Remove graffiti and fly posting where required.
8. Undertake weeding duties as and when required.
9. Identify and report defects/disrepair/vandalism to the supervisor for action as necessary.
10. Report litter order offences (dropping of general litter and dog fouling offences).
11. Provide a point of contact for the local community in respect of town centre maintenance.
12. Provide advice and assistance as required to members of the public and report issues as necessary to the supervisor for action.
13. Have due regard for personal health and safety, and the safety of colleagues and the general public, observing all Council health and safety rules, regulations and procedures.
14. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
What We're Looking For
15. Experience of face-to-face contact with members of the public in a service capacity.
16. Experience of litter picking or labouring.
17. Good communication skills.
18. Ability to work within established procedures and guidelines.
19. Ability to work on own initiative.
20. Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
21. Ability to follow clear instructions
22. The postholder may be required to work additional hours and outside normal working hours to meet the needs of the service. This includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.
