Role Title: Operations Leader
Location: UK, Ashton-Under-Lyne
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Leader to join our team in Ashton. The Operations Leader will be responsible for ensuring Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, and People expectations are met while continually striving for Operational Excellence. The role involves collaboration with functions such as EHS, Quality, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and HR. The Operations Leader will report to the Operations Director and be a member of the UK Industrials Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure a safe work environment and culture for employees and visitors, enforcing policies and procedures.
2. Maintain adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance.
3. Ensure environmentally responsible operations within the production department.
4. Set and deliver financial and non-financial budgets and forecasts.
5. Monitor and analyze production costs, identifying improvement areas and implementing cost reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
6. Provide leadership and resources to ensure products and services meet company targets, customer specifications, and OTIF requirements.
7. Establish and monitor KPIs to assess manufacturing performance and drive improvements.
8. Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency enhancements.
9. Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement.
10. Manage resources for optimal use, including materials, labor, equipment, and energy.
11. Lead, coach, and develop the team to achieve performance metrics.
12. Report regularly on plant performance to senior leadership, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
13. Drive cultural transformation, ensuring employees understand and apply Mativ Values.
14. Collaborate with HR on training, career development, succession planning, and employee relations.
Skills and Experience
1. Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
2. Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and cost optimization.
3. Proficiency in manufacturing software, ERP/MRP systems (SAP), and data analysis tools.
4. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
6. Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
7. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate diverse teams.
8. Proven manufacturing and leadership experience.
9. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
