Job description
This role involves working alongside a dedicated crew of 40 electrical fitters and 30 apprentices, providing essential support to the Royal Navy Warship fleet. In this dynamic and supportive environment, you will be responsible for upgrades, maintenance, and support periods, with opportunities for national and international travel.
As the industry evolves, flexible working opportunities are also available, enabling you to balance work and home life effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, MDS, and guidance information
2. Conducting electrical testing on various systems (12v, 24v, 110v, 240v & 440v)
3. Executing various crimping techniques and soldering
4. Carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, and defect rectification
5. Installing, testing, and maintaining communications equipment such as VHF radios, intercom, GPS, and AIS
6. Fault diagnosis and defect rectification
7. Conducting detailed inspections and using all measuring equipment proficiently
8. Using calibrating measurement equipment
Job Requirements:
9. Completion of an appropriate trade apprenticeship or naval equivalent qualification
10. Understanding of electrical installation drawings
11. Clear understanding of SHE Risks Awareness
12. Understanding of manufacturing processes
13. Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heights
14. Relevant safety certification (e.g., SHE Induction, COSHH Awareness, working at height)
15. Background in marine, offshore, construction, or manufacturing environment highly desirable
