Locum Consultant Histopathologist - Scotland - FTC
Triple West Medical has been appointed by an NHS organization in SW Scotland to assist in recruiting a Consultant Histopathologist for a substantive post. They are also considering a Locum Fixed Term Contract for a minimum of 12 months.
The NHS Trust serves a population of approximately 350,000 across multiple sites, with over 8,000 staff. It is located in Scotland's southwest region, near Glasgow, with scenic coastline. The area offers an active postgraduate program in the local Deanery, and consultants are encouraged to participate in teaching trainees.
The department has full UKAS accreditation, complies with ISO 15189 Standards, and operates entirely from the main hospital pathology laboratory. Services include diagnostic histopathology, andrology, cytology, autopsy, and support for breast and bowel cancer screening programs, as well as the HFEA-licensed IUI service.
The laboratory utilizes Clinisys WinPath LIMS, Q-Pulse for quality management, and has implemented digital pathology with Philips Intellisite. There are three scanners, including one for Mega slides.
The appointee will share responsibility with colleagues to provide comprehensive diagnostic pathology services, including:
1. Supervision of diagnostic methods and specimen examination
2. Authorisation and interpretation of results
3. Participation in policy and SOP development
4. Ensuring quality assurance and participating in NEQAS programs
5. Maintaining UKAS accreditation
6. Business planning and introducing new methods
7. Adhering to health, safety, and security protocols
Applicants must have GMC registration and relevant experience. The client is willing to issue Certificates of Sponsorship for qualified overseas doctors.
